And was regularly annoyed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, it all works a little differently, because there are very handy plugins that help you reset your WordPress to factory defaults, so to speak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not only all content but also the database is reset and you can restart cleanly and completely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sounds good to you? Then let&#8217;s jump right in\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-b5559611 gb-headline-text\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_a_WordPress_reset_actually_good_for\"><\/span>What is a WordPress reset actually good for?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Probably the most common use case for a reset in WordPress is a development environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Usually, you set up a WordPress installation somewhere locally or on a subdomain (e.g. https:\/\/dev.yourdomain.com) at the hoster. You work on the project, finish it, push it to the live domain and you&#8217;re done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next project comes and you need a fresh development environment. But the plugin is so clever that it leaves the actual main user with his record in the database. So the admin account with which you are logged into your installation. My standards always include extensions like Yoast SEO, Gravity Forms, or WP Rocket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If I delete only the database, I do have minimal effort of also deleting all images from the library and unused plugins and themes.
